Select Equipment was recently contacted by a new customer to do a 1600A service switch replacement for Owls Head Marine Division. Our team had some trouble with this project due to the existing unit being extremely close to saltwater, we had to work with our partner the Switchgear House to design and build the 1600A service switch replacement. The new service switch had to be made out of stainless steel to prevent wear and tear from the nearby salt water. Working together with the Switchgear House, we created a custom 1600A Nema 4x Stainless Steel enclosed Circuit Breaker enclosure along with a Con Ed 377 CT Cabinet. Not only did we craft housing for both of these breakers & switches, but we also designed and created a custom NEMA 4X tap box and a NEMA 4X meter pan to complement the 1600A service switch. We then were able to provide the 1600A service switch replacement for Owls Head Marine Division in a timely fashion. The new 1600A service switch should last them a long time especially with it being encased in a salt water resistant stainless steel case.
